Gingerbread House Contest

For the last two years we have decorated Gingerbread houses with our good friends the Shea's. Since we are no longer in Provo, and we miss the Shea's terribly, and we promised the Shea's we were still going to decorate gingerbread houses with them every year. We have decided to have a ginger bread house contest over our blogs. Jeremiah and I thought it would be fun to open it up to anyone who is interested. If you are interested please make a comment on this post and leave a link to your blog when you put a picture up of your gingerbread house, or sleigh or what ever you may make that is out of gingerbread and candy. I don't think it will be a contest for a winner. More of a fun thing to look at other great creations and get some good ideas for next year. Hope many join in.

Total Loss

Today I went and got everything out of our old van before the towed it to the junk yard. It was kinda sad to say good bye. We bought that van about two months after we found out we were going to have twin boys and about two months before they were born. It has been a very good van for us and we have loved it. Here are a few pictures of it.The bumper was lying up by the building so I couldn't get it into the shot.
Goodbye Pontiac Montana. You have served us well. We will remember all the fun trips we had in you and all the kids we have fit into your wonderful space.

Looking for a new Van

Well the insurance company called today and said that our van is a lost. It is not worth repairing. So we are on the search for a new van or anything we can get 6 people around in. Including my father would cannot step up into really tall cars. Also it would be nice to be able to sit at lease 7 in case in the future Muldowney #5 comes along (No I am not announcing anything). So if anyone know of a great place to get cars or a great car to buy please oh please let me know. Thanks

Car Wreck

Yep my first official car wreck. Monday we received a lot of snow. They were predicting about 2-3 inches of snow. I went out around Noon and I measured 3 1/2inches and is was still come down fast. Well I went and picked up the boys and was heading home. I was coming down 12th (which is a pretty big hill) and the people ahead of me started hitting their brakes. I tried hitting mine but they locked. So I tried pumping them, nothing. I realized I was going to hit the truck in front of me if I didn't stop or get out of the way. Luckily there was a bit of a shoulder so I pulled over to the side to miss all the cars I was cruising past, all the while trying to stop. Then I saw a side street so I decided to turn onto there and hit a tree or something just so I could stop or hopefully just stop on my own. Well I wasn't able to make the turn all the way and hit another van that had pull on the road and had gone up on the curb a little. It ended up the truck in front of her started spinning and was about to hit her so she tried pulling out of the way. So she was about 4 cars ahead of me when all this happened. Luckily her car had little damage. Unluckily our car had a lot of damage. The whole front bumper was on the ground and other fun damage. The boys were all pretty shaken up but no was hurt. Thank goodness. We called 911 and waited about 1/2 an hour before the cop got there. I told the boys the car got pretty hurt. Joseph started crying about how much he loved his green van and didn't want a new one. Poor boy. Well we had to wait around for awhile. Jeremiah came and picked up the boys and I right when to tow truck came to take the van away. I have already been in touch with the insurance company and waiting for the damage report. I wish I had my camera with me. I did take a picture with my phone but I have no idea how to get that onto my computer so I can put it up. Today when I was driving the boys home Michael congratulated me for not getting in another car wreck. It is nice to have my boys proud of me.

William sporting a new look

William has had some exciting thing go on these last two days. First William lost his 3rd tooth while having a wrestling match with Daddy on Sunday. He cam up and informed me that "Daddies sweater pulled out my tooth. William's other front top tooth is loose. I am working on him learning the words to 'All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth'. I will make sure his other tooth will be out by then (enter evil laugh).
Next, today William got glasses. We took him into to have a functional eye exam (he leads with his right hand but leads with his left eye, one side of the body should lead so the functional eye exam was to determine if he needed eye therapy) and we found out he was far sited but nothing else to worry about. So the glasses got in today. William was very excited that he picked out the blue ones. They make the color come out in his eyes. William is already showing very good care of them. He carries his case around every where and put his glasses in when ever he feels they might need protecting. For example he felt they needed to go in his case while we said our prayer for dinner. Silly boy.

What are you doing tomorrow at midnight????

Now you may be asking yourself "why would I care what Missy is doing tomorrow at midnight" and you may also be asking yourself "what is Missy doing up that late, unless it is TPing someones house". Which by the way I haven't TP any ones house in about 8 years but tried to talk some friends into it last year and they were too chicken. Anyway after asking yourself all these great questions I will inform you what I will be up too. I am attending the first showing of the TWILIGHT movie in Casper. HURRAY. I know, I know, you must be so jealous. A friend from my ward invited me to attend with some friends. I am so excited. I am expecting the film to be stupid and not to meet my expectations. I am just afraid they are going to change it too much. So at 9:30 PM I will be picked up to head off to the movie that starts at 12 AM. Yes I do feel that we need to get there 2 1/2 hours early. We have to take pictures to remember this blessed occasion. I can not wait. I have to try to take a nap tomorrow in preparations for the late night. Now I just have to get my sister-in-law Erin to get up here to visit me so we can go see The Secret Life Of Bees.

How much are you paying for Gas????

As of today our gas has dropped to $1.69 per gallon. And if you have a Smiths savings card you get 3 cents off per gallon. And if you spent around $100 at smiths (which is pretty easy for me to do), you can save an additional 15 cents per gallon. So yes that is $1.51 per gallon. So if you are paying more then that you should move to Casper. Sucka!

The Argument

Every morning in the car the kids have some kind of argument. Today's was 'Who's cousin was Who's'. Joseph is under the impression that everyone has their own cousin. He was informing the rest of the kids who belonged to which cousin. And the whole time William is saying "No everyone belongs to every cousin. We share our cousins. Mom do we share our cousins?" I had to insure William that we share all our cousins. And remind him that Joseph is still young and trying to figure it all out. For those who want to know this is how Joseph split up the cousins.
Joseph -Micheal you get Peter he is your cousin.
Mom what is Peter's sister name?
Me -Marie
Joseph- Right. Isabelle Marie is your cousin.
Mom what is Peters brothers name?
Me - Oliver
Joseph- Oh right. William you get Oliver
And my cousins are Roman and Issac (the two cousins we see the most)
I try to remind him of his other cousins but since he hasn't seen them in the last 6 months he dismissed it. I am sure we will have this discussion again soon since we have had a few times already.

Back to Denver

Joseph and I headed back to Denver Tuesday night. We got into Denver just in time to hear president elect Barack Obama give his acceptance speech. Joseph and I had to be at the hospital Wednesday at 6:30 am. This time they were doing an examination under anesthesia.
Joseph giving a thumbs up while waiting to be brought back
In Utah when we would take him in they wouldn't let Jeremiah or I go along. Well, at the Children's hospital in Denver, I was allowed to go with while they were putting him to sleep. I got to wear this beautiful get up and hold him until he was out.

Joseph waking up, afterward, holding tight to his Popsicle.

Dr. Cohen informed me his retina is clear but he still has inflammation around his eyes. They gave him more steroid injections in both eyes. He wanted me to come back to his office in 10 days until I reminded him I lived 4 1/2 hours away. So instead I will be calling him in 10 days to let him know how Joseph is feeling and setting up an appointment to go down again in a month or so.

These were pictures I took on the drive home. They sky was so pretty. Though a lot of parts of Wyoming are ugly there are some really pretty parts of it. On the way home I went through a wind storm and two hail storms. Very exciting. I was happy to get home.

Black Cats and Dead Man Over Worms.

Can I tell you how much I LOVE HALLOWEEN. I found some new recipes to use for treats and meals. I love to do anything that make Halloween more fun.
Dead Man Over Worms I found on Emeril Live.
It was so fun to make and serve. Everyone thought it was a bit desturbing but it tasted great.

I didn't get a picture of it when I served it but thought this was a great pic.

Dead Man Over Worms
Ingredients
3 eggs
2/3 cup milk
2 slices French bread torn into pieces
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup grated carrot
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 cup shredded Cheddar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon bouquet garni ( I am not sure what this was so I didn't use it)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 pound mild Italian sausage
1(16 ounce) package spaghetti noodles
Topping:
1 cup tomato ketchup
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/4 cup maple syrup
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add milk, bread, and oatmeal. Stir in carrots, onions, cheese, herbs, and seasonings. Add beef and sausage and mix well. In a shallow baking dish, shape beef mixture into the shape of a body. Round ball for head, oval shape for body, mounding up for tummy. Shape arms and place next to body. Shape legs and place next to each other, not apart. Smooth meatloaf so the "seams" are not apparent. Bake for 45 minutes, until meat is cooked through.
While baking combine topping ingredients. Cook spaghetti noodles, according to package directions, rinse and set aside. After 45 minutes, spoon half of the topping over the meatloaf. Return to the oven and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes

My friend had the recipe for Black Cat Cookies on her Blog and I couldn't resist.

This one Jeremiah made for Julia

I thought these were fun and adorable but the kids couldn't help to much. Maybe in a year or two when I can feel more comfortable about them helping around the oven.

Black Cat Cookies
INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
24 wooden craft sticks
48 pieces candy corn
24 red-hot candies (I used M&Ms instead)
DIRECTIONS
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Roll dough into 1-1/2-in. balls. Place 3 in. apart on lightly greased baking sheets.
2. Insert a wooden stick into each cookie. Flatten with a glass dipped in sugar. Pinch top of cookie to form ears. For whiskers, press a fork twice into each cookie. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set. Remove from the oven; immediately press on candy corn for eyes and red-hots for noses. Remove to wire racks to cool.

For Halloween Dinner we are having Dinner in a Pumpkin.

Trip to Denver

This last weekend my Mom, Joseph and I made a trip down to Denver. Now this was not a trip for pleasure it was a trip of eye appointments. Joseph had to come down to Denver to see a specialist and my Mom came down to get Lasik surgery. Joseph's appointment went great. I really like the doctor and the feeling of the office. We have to head down again within the next month. Dr. Cohan says his eyes are looking pretty good but he wants to be able to get a really good look at Joseph while Joseph is under. Dr Cohan did say the Jospeh will most likely be wearing glasses in the near future. My Moms surgery went really well. It took a long time to get her back into the surgery but the surgery itself took a few minutes. She is healing really well and feeling great. She kept trying to get me to let her drive on the way home.

Joseph waiting to see the doctor.

Joseph with his cool rays. He had his eyes dialated, so they gave him some sunglasses to wear around.

Here is my Mom with her protective plastic covers.

The good part of the trip is we got to see my sister Julia, her husband Joey and (as Joseph likes to call him) Baby Cousin Roman.

This one is for Bobbi

Well this last weekend winter arrived. We had a huge snow storm. Jeremiah and I were supposed to go the Temple on Saturday but we were advised against it since the roads were so bad. Friday we received a little bit of snow but when we woke up Saturday morning we had about 6 inches in the backyard and it was still snowing. The kids were so excited they told me over and over again that Christmas had come. So as soon as breakfast was done the kids got all dressed up and headed outside. I couldn't believe how long they lasted out there. They played outside for at least and hour or so. This was perfect for us. Jeremiah, my Mom and I got to work getting the house the rest of the way in order. All the kids came in and we had a nice lunch of Hot Cocoa, Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. After a bit of rest the kids were ready to head back outside. It is so nice to have a back yard where I feel safe sending them out by themselves. I know that Bobbi misses the snow since she is in Arizona. I hope you enjoy the pictures Bobbi

Little Princess

I had Isabelle sitting on the counter while I was doing my hair. She was taking care of her baby and singing her baby a little song. I was lucky to get Isabelle to sing it for me again. She is such a little princess. She reminds me of myself when I was younger. She loves pink and dresses but she wants to keep up with the boys and play whatever they are. It is so fun to have a girl.

New addition to the Family

We were so excited about the annoucements of new temples being built. For those who don't know Jeremiah is from Philadelphia. I know this is such a blessing for his family. They have done a lot of work at building up the church in that area. My sister, Carrie, also lives in that area. She was so excited she jumped up and start yelling and crying. Her little kids where a bit startled and worried about what was wrong. When she explained to her kids about a temple being built there her little girl, Taylor, exclaim "oh good now I can get married there." What a sweet spirit. I can't wait until we can make our way out there to see it. Also I hope it is done by next summer in case there is a wedding (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more).

My Husband

Well last night Jeremiah and I had a fight. I hate fighting with him. Anyways the point is not about the fight. The point is I love him so much. He had to leave town this morning for work and won't be back until tomorrow night. I hate that we left things on not the best of feelings. Let me tell you how much I love my husband. He is amazing.
First of all when my Dad had his stoke Jeremiah was amazing at calming me down and helping me sleep that night. He was very willing to do what ever I wanted in the way of seeing my Dad. He is always so good at knowing what I need and loving me. I love him so much for that
Next when my mother called, to asked if we really meant we would move up to Casper to help out, I barely got the question out of my mouth when Jeremiah answered with a "Let go". He informed me that he knew we would be moving up to Casper right after my Dad had his stroke. I am so thankful for a husband that is intuned with the Spirit. He has been guided in many ways.
I loved Jeremiah very much when we got married over 7 years ago. I never realized I could love him more. When we had William I fell deeper in love with Jeremiah. I was amazed to see what a wonderful father he was. He loved William so much and took such good care of me when I was having a hard time healing. Then when he had Joseph and Michael I fell in love with him again. When Joseph was born Jeremiah was so mezmorized by him the doctor had to bring him back to reality and remind him Michael was about to be born. After they were both cleaned up Jeremaih came walking into the room holding both of them. To quote Jeremiah "I am such a man" Then came his little "baby girl" Isabelle. He is so protective of her. She had him wrapped around her finger the day she was born.
I love the way Jeremiah laughs and smiles at me with a twinkle in his eye. He always tells me how funny I am. He is constenly telling how beautiful I am. He has been very kind to me about my weight gain. And very encouraging when I set a goal. Like when I descided I was going to run the 10k he went out and bought me a IPOD because he knew music really motivated me and helped me get through my run.
I love Jeremiahs long dimples in his cheeks. I love when he in really into what he is talking about his eyebrow goes up (it is pretty sexy). I love that when he leaves town he leaves one of his t-shirts covered in his cologne for me to wear to bed.
I don't often give Jeremiah the credit he deserves. I know it is hard for him to be living with my parents and not having his own space. He has dealt with it really well. He is an amazing man. Wonderful father, very loving husband, he works hard in his callings in the church. I know he has a strong testimony and loves our Heavenly Father. He is very willing to do any job as long as he can take care of our family.
I love you so much Jeremiah. Thank you for putting up with me and loving me through all my faults.

Good bye Childhood

These pictures to you make look like hills of dirt, but let me tell you what they really are. As a child we spent hours upon hours in these hills, we called them "the fields" We had many adventures in the "fields" . One time my sister Carrie, a friend of ours and I went out seeking an adventure in the "field". We found a large puddle of muddy water. Some how we ended up in this puddle and played in it for hours. We went home dripping with mud and laughing with the memory we just made. Another time Carrie, another friend Mike and Laura and I went out sledding on the "Hill". Well some how Laura sat on a cactus. So we decided it was time to head home. One the way Laura was in so much pain and tired she decided to sit down and sat on another cactus. By the time we made it home Laura had sat in 3 different cactus and was in much pain. We had a chocolate factory ( a wall of dirt we used to make mud pies and other treats), we went mountain biking and had an amazing childhood in the "fields" But now they are making way for the future. They are in the mist of taking down all the hills to make room for a new Jr. High and a 600 unit apartment complex. Though parts of this is really good for Casper, I am sad to say goodbye to the most amazing hill you will ever sled on. One side of this hill was very steep and had a big ditch at the bottom. And you had to hope to get enough speed to jump the ditch or you might end up like one of my friend who broke her leg when she landed in the ditch( I was to chicken ever to go down that side). So Goodbye Childhood. I loved the memories I made in the "fields". I think that saddest part for me is I was looking forward to my children going out and having their own adventures in the "fields".

One Tired Girl

The other day Isabelle was being very whinny so Jeremiah tried giving her a horsey ride. Well she ended up falling asleep on him .
Then he decided he needed a nap too.
