The Birth Story

For all of those, like me, who love to hear the birth story here it is.
Jeremiah and I got to the hospital at 7 am so that I could be enduced. Dr. Vigneri got here around 8 am and inserted a little pill up behind my cervix. It is suppose to make your cervix soften and start contractions. At this time I was dilated to a 2 and my cervix was 50% effaced.
So around 1:30 pm the doctor came and broke my water. I was still dilated to a 2. He decided to start me on pit.
Around 2:30 the nurse came in and told me she was going to take me off the pit. I asked if the baby's heart rate was dropping. The nurse said yes and it was getting worse with every contraction I had. She then had Jeremiah push the button to call for a nurse. But she told him to press it several times and then she went into the bathroom and pulled the nurse call button in there. This is where I started to realize something was really wrong. One of the nurses called my doctor. I found out later that he literally ran over to the hospital. Dr. Vigneri got there around 2:50 he checked me and I had only dilated to a 3.
He then started talking about how things weren't going well and about a c-section. So in my mind I was thinking if things don't start turning around then I would have to have a c-section so I started thinking of things I could do to make it better. But then they started prepping me for the c-section. I broke down and cried when I realized I was having a c-section. The nurses started having me sign consent forms. The anestheceologist started telling me what he would be doing and what to expect. He told me the doctor thought they had time to do a spinal tap but that if the heart rate kept dropping they would have just knock me out. Withing minutes I was being wheeled off to the operating room. At this point I had settled down a bit. When they brought me in they made Jeremiah stay out in the hall until they gave me the spinal tap. (Jeremiah told me after everything that they told him if I was put under he wouldn't be allowed in. I am glad they didn't tell me that I would have freaked out) They got me on the operating table and a nurse had me lean against her as they gave me the spinal tap. I broke down again. I wanted Jeremiah there holding me and not some nurse (though she was very sweet and kind). As they layed me down they brought Jeremiah in, I was so happy to see him.

They got everything all preped. The anestheceologist asked if I could feel what they were doing. I told him I could feel a slight pinch. He informed me that the doctor was pinching me really hard with sharp tweezers. With in seconds (though it seem much longer) they told me they had started. I felt lots of tugging.

They told Jeremiah he could watch but he decided he needed to stay by me. I remember looking at him and telling him I really didn't like this. Soon one of the doctors put his elbow into my chest and started pushing the baby up toward the incision. That was the only part that really hurt. I couldn't breath.

Then the babies head was out. Everyone commented on what a big head the baby had. Then they pulled the baby out the rest of the way. the annouced it was a girl. Yipee I really wanted a girl. She was born at 3:28 pm The doctor told us that the unblicord was in a knot around the her foot and there was no way she would have came down. At that point I was ok with having a c-section.

The nurses told Jeremiah he could come see the baby but he was very hesitant to come leave me. So I encourged him to go see her. After she was cleaned up Jeremiah brought her over for me to see. She was beautiful and sweet as can be. Everyone in there were betting on how big she was. They all guessed around 9lbs. The anestheceologist said from the time that they decided on the c-section to time she was born was 29 minutes.

After I got to see her for a second they took her off to the nursery while they started stiching me up. That took at least 1/2 an hour. Everything felt very foggy the whole time. I really didn't like the feeling of it. I really don't like the feeling of things be out of my control and everything was completly out of my control. While they were stitching me up the nursery called down to tell us she weighed in at 9lb 3.6 oz. After stitching me up they took me to a recovery room. I was to be there until my pain was under control and I wasn't allowed to see the baby or Jeremaih until then. So after an hour I was finally brought back into my room where Jeremiah, my mom and our new little one was waiting for me. Jeremiah and I finally decided to name her Rose Elizabeth (well mostly Jeremiah decided).
So that is Rose's exciting birth story.
