Spanking Time

I will be the first to admit I was not afraid to give my kids spankings when needed.
Well here is how my story goes for my change of heart. We were up visiting Jeremiah's brother Ryan and his wife Ann. I had finally gotten the kids to bed each being spanked at least once (most likely twice). I am not even sure how we got onto the subject but Ann informed us that she doesn't spank her son and won't let Ryan either. Well I just thought that might work for you but not with my kids.
On the way home I got to thinking about how often I spanked my little ones and how I felt after and how my children reacted. I once heard a speaker say "your children obey for only two reason. One they respect you. Two they fear you." My children feared me. How sad.
When I went to bed that evening I knelt in prayer and repented. I asked forgiveness for treated Heavenly Father's children in such a way. I made a promise to Heavenly Father that I would no longer spank my children. Now for many night following I had to repeat this promise and ask for strength to uphold this promise. I caught myself ready to give a spanking when I was reminded very gently by the Holy Ghost of my promise.
I am proud to say I have kept my promise now for over 2 months. What blessings have I received? My children no longer fear me. I have noticed that they come and give me more love then they use to. I feel much closer to them. I also feel a lot calmer. I am able to handle the things they do with less stress and I don't raise my voice even half as much as I use to.
So thank you Ann for your inspiration

Home Again Home Again Jiggidy Jig

Joseph and I arrived home last night around 8:30 pm. We were very lucky with our travels because we knew of a big storm that would be rolling in. The worst part of the trip was the first hour. It was snowing pretty bad. We almost got in a wreck when a lady in front of us decided to slam on her breaks so she could look at a wreck on the side of the road. I hate rubber neckers. They cause almost as many wrecks as they see. Luckily I was able to swerve around her. Once we were out of Utah the roads were completely clear until the last hour of our trip. It was pretty foggy and rainy. But we made it in 6 1/2 hours and were very happy to be home and safe. And plus I get to make tutu's with my good Wyoming friend. Right Steph?
I will post more of our trip when I can track down some pictures to put up too.

Count to Ten

Last night as I was trying to get Isabelle to bed (a very long process because she keeps sneaking up stair to try to sleep with Grandma). Michael came out of his room looking for his baby sister. He is always very concerned for her. So I went and got her out of Grandma's room again (3rd time that night) and as I was heading down stairs I heard a loud crash. I rushed down the stair and there with Michael with his 'I'm in big trouble' face. I asked him what he did and he replied "I didn't mean too", a way to common phrase in our home. So I grabbed his ear (I hate when I do that. I just think about his poor little ear and how mean I am) and asked him what he did again. This time his reply was "I broke your new mirror (a hand mirror that I hide away so things like this don't happen, but not too new) mommy. I am so sorry I didn't mean too". I yelled at him to get into his bed and not to come out and that was such a knotty thing to do and that I was sure he did mean to break it (he break a lot of things and usually on purpose). I got Isabelle back into bed and went and cleaned up the mirror. Since I was cooled down I decided to go talk to Michael about what he did.
Me: Michael why did you break my mirror
Mike: I didn't mean to mommy. Isabelle put it into my backpack(which was laying in bed with him) and I was trying to put it back. I accidentally dropped it and it broke. I am so sorry mommy. I sorry I broke your new mirror I didn't mean too.
As he was saying this his little lips were quivering. Then he leaned over his bed and hugged me. I just melted. I felt so bad. He was trying to be a good boy and it didn't quite work out. I apologized for pulling his ear and yelling at him. I told him how much I loved him and was glad he told me what happened.
While we were talking Isabelle once again snuck upstairs. So I went and got her and told my mom what happened. My mom said "I guess even adults need to count to ten sometimes"
How true. I react to quick to often. What a good lesson I learned last night.

Lack of Pictures

If anyone is wondering why I never have many pictures anymore. It is because I broke my camera again. I did it right after Jeremiah got laid off so we have been waiting to get a new pay check until we buy a new one. He gets his first one on Thursday. Hurray! But I might wait until the next pay check because we need to pay the bills first.

Girls Camp Here I Come

I am so excited to announce that I get to go to girls camp this year. I have been trying to get back to girls camp for about 11 years now. I get to go as the 3rd year stake leader. I am so excited about this calling and a bit nervous. I was always there having fun with out a lot of responsibility. And now I am going to have a lot of responsibility. I just hope that my girls come to realize, as I did, how neat and what a spiritual experience it is. I am thankful that Heavenly Father has given me this wonderful blessing. I know many are reading this and thinking "Missy your crazy for wanting to go to girls camp". But let me tell you it was one of the best experience of my teen years. Girls camp really help me discover who I was and really brought me close to the Lord. I always look back at that time with fondness. I hope I can help other girls have the same experience that I did. I can't wait.

April Fools Day

William: Grandma watch out there's a spider behind you
Grandma:What? (She wasn't sure what he said)
William: April fools

William:(right after his joke on Grandma) Uncle Daniel(sitting right next to Grandma) there is a spider behind you
Daniel: Oh no where?
William: April fools
Daniel:Oh good I thought it was going to eat me.

Michael:Do you want to hear my joke
Daniel: Sure
Michael:the banana said ... a lot of mumble jumble I didn't understand
-Wild laughter-
Daniel: oh that is funny
Michael: do you get it Banana -a lot more wild laughter
Daniel : oh the banana is the punch line

Michael is into using the word banana at least ten time a day. And very rarely does it have anything to do with a banana

My Baby is Eight

April Fools! He is only 7. That is right William Charles Muldowney turned 7 today. We are so lucky to have him in our family.William was a great April Fools day baby. A week before my due date the doctor told me there is no way he will be coming by his due date(April 1) and that he would induce me a week after my due date. I cried. I didn't want to be induced and I really wanted my baby in my arms. Well March 31 was Easter Sunday. I woke up around 7am to use the bathroom and realize I was loosing my mucus plug. Right after I used the bathroom the contractions started. I remember saying "I better get to eat my Easter dinner", it was our first Easter together as a married couple and I was so excited to prepare a yummy ham and all the fixings. Well the contractions kept up all day. Not to regular and the closes they got was 10 min apart. So we went to church and came home and enjoyed our Easter dinner. My best friend Bobbi came over and I believe our friend Kurt came over as well for dinner and a game. Bobbi was so good to help me out. We sent Jeremiah to bed, around midnight, because we had no idea when the baby would come. Bobbi and I went for some long walks (it was the only way my contractions would settle down) I believe Bobbi headed home around 2 am. I took a warm bath then wrote in my journal and finally fell asleep around 3 am. At 5am I woke back up my contractions were harder and closer together (2 min apart). Jeremiah and I went for a walk and my contractions stayed at 5 min apart at a regular pace. It was time to head to the hospital. We were getting our bag together and Jeremiah pulled out a box of games. I asked him what he was thinking and he said "just in case we get bored", YEAH RIGHT! So I tried to be nice and let him bring two games. We called our family and then headed to the hospital. At 7am we were admitted into the hospital (24 hrs of contractions). I was only dilated to a 4 but my water was some what broken too. At 8 my doctor broke my water the rest of the way. By 10 I hadn't dilated my so they started me on PIT. At noon I broke down and asked for an epidural. I had been awake for almost 29 hours with a 2 hour nap in between. At 1pm I got my epidural and by 1:30 I was asleep. I am not sure how long a slept. I was in and out and had to wake up every time the nurse wanted to check me. Bobbi came in to see how I was doing. She was amazed that I was so relaxed. Jeremiah and I decided to watch Sound of Music. Around 6pm the nurse came in and said it was time to push. I told Jeremiah to turn off the movie.
J: But it is almost over
M: I am about to give birth to your baby. Turn it off
J: Oh fine
If I would have realized how long it would take to push him out I would have let him finished the movie. While I was pushing the Doctor got pulled out to do an emergency C-section. Soon after that my nurse got pulled out for another emergency. So for about an hour Jeremiah and I were by ourselves trying to get the baby out. When the nurse came back in she told us that since it was April Fools day a lot of women were coming in ready to deliver because it took them so long to get their husbands to really believe they were in labor and not some joke. So at 8:52 pm William was born (almost 38hrs of labor). The first thing the doctor said was "that is one big head". And it was but he was beautiful. William had a war wound as well, a nice little bruise above his lip.
William has been such a joy in our life. Always full of love and happiness. He is already looking forward to turning 8 so he can be baptised. He is such a good big brother. I have never heard him tell his younger siblings that they couldn't play with him for one reason or another. Instead I usually hear "come on brothers lets go play". I would be happy to go through another 38 hrs of labor again just to be able to receive another sweet soul like William.
